The offspring of two high-ranking Norwegian diplomats are under investigation for their connections to the convicted pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, following reports of the son’s suicide. Edward Juul Rod-Larsen, aged 25, who inherited $5 million from Epstein, was discovered deceased in Oslo, as reported by the Norwegian newspaper, Verdens Gang.
The tragic event occurred shortly after authorities began looking into the parents, Terje Rod-Larsen and Mona Juul, due to their alleged ties to Epstein detailed in files released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ). Despite the scrutiny, Rod-Larsen and Juul have not faced any accusations of wrongdoing.
Although their children have not been implicated in any illicit activities, emails disclosed by the DOJ suggest that the couple, along with their kids, visited Epstein’s private island in 2011 and expressed gratitude for the invitation in correspondence. A joint investigation by Norwegian and French officials is now underway, triggered by reports that Epstein bequeathed a total of $10 million to Edward and his twin sister, Emma, in his will.
The same sum was reportedly left to Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, according to DOJ documents. The family claims they were unaware of this inheritance until it was revealed in media reports and have not received any funds from Epstein’s estate.
In a statement released by their attorneys, Thomas Skjelbred and John Christian Elden, the couple attributed the tragic loss of Edward to the intense public scrutiny surrounding their financial connections to Epstein.
Rod-Larsen, previously serving as Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, and Juul, a former State Secretary at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were well-known for their involvement in the Oslo Accords, earning them the moniker ‘Peace Twins’.
Juul resigned as Norway’s ambassador to Jordan in February amid allegations of her association with Epstein, prompting an official inquiry by the foreign ministry. She clarified that her interactions with Epstein were primarily through her husband and not independently.
Rod-Larsen was featured in the Epstein files holding up a phone displaying a social media page, but the context of the image remains ambiguous.
