Police apprehended a man and a woman under suspicion of causing a fatality due to reckless driving after a teenage boy lost his life in a collision in Bedfordshire. Law enforcement responded to reports of a vehicle crash involving three teenage boys – two on a bicycle and one on a scooter at the site. The tragic incident took place on Greenfield Road in Flitwick at 11:50 pm on Friday, as reported by authorities.
Regrettably, one of the boys succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other two were swiftly transported to the hospital with severe wounds. Despite the driver fleeing the scene, a damaged blue BMW was discovered on a nearby street, according to police statements. The man and woman, both in their twenties, were taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving under the influence, and drug-impaired driving.
Detective Sergeant Shona Searle, part of the serious collision investigation unit for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire, expressed condolences to the deceased boy’s family and the families of the injured boys. The investigative team is actively pursuing various leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash and is appealing to witnesses or individuals with potential dash cam, doorbell, or CCTV footage to come forward promptly.
