“Café Customer Stabbed in Bolton Knife Attack”

Date:

A café in Bolton was the scene of a violent incident captured on CCTV, where a customer was stabbed.

The attack occurred at The Deli located on Tonge Moor Road on Tuesday. Footage circulating on social media depicts a man entering the café brandishing a knife and assaulting a seated customer amidst the screams of the staff. The video has not been shared by The Mirror.

The targeted customer retaliated by standing up, seemingly striking the assailant, and disarming him. Subsequently, the suspect is observed behaving calmly before taking a seat.

Authorities are investigating the incident as the second of two connected knife attacks that occurred within minutes. The Manchester Evening News indicates that the police are treating both incidents as linked.

Earlier reports suggest that a man left a nearby property armed with a knife and allegedly stabbed another individual along Tonge Moor Road. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by this victim were described as superficial.

Shortly after the initial incident, the same individual entered The Deli and assaulted the customer captured on the CCTV footage. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the café victim are not believed to be severe or life-threatening.

The café victim’s attire, including a gilet, sweatshirt, and T-shirt, possibly contributed to reducing the seriousness of the injuries. It is reported that neither victim had any prior acquaintance with the alleged attacker.

A man in his fifties has been taken into custody by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) on suspicion of assault, as confirmed on Wednesday. Authorities are connecting the incidents and attributing them to mental health issues.

In a Facebook statement, The Deli addressed the incident that transpired on Tonge Moor Rd, emphasizing the safety of their customers and staff during the ongoing investigation. They expressed gratitude to a customer who assisted during the incident and announced complimentary orders for the individual involved.

As a result of the disruption, The Deli temporarily closed for the day and promised to update customers on their reopening. The establishment apologized for any inconvenience caused and thanked their patrons for their understanding.

Police presence was notable on Tonge Moor Road as officers conducted inquiries, with reports of two men receiving treatment for stab wounds at the scene, according to GMP.

GMP confirmed responding to a stabbing incident on Tonge Moor Road in Bolton around 10:30 am, where two men were attended to for stab wounds. A man in his fifties was apprehended on suspicion of assault and remains in custody as investigations continue.
