The explosion occurred at a residence on Sterncourt Road within the Frenchay vicinity at approximately 6:30 am. Armed police were seen at the scene, and local residents have been relocated to a temporary shelter at the nearby Snuff Mill Harvester pub.

The authorities have deemed the incident suspicious and have officially declared it a major event. They have ruled out any connection to terrorism and are not actively searching for additional suspects. However, investigative activities are underway at a property in Speedwell believed to be linked to the explosion.

One resident who was relocated to the Harvester pub recounted hearing a loud bang at 6:30 am, venturing outside, and then being instructed to return indoors by armed officers. According to the resident, neighbors observed smoke billowing from one of the homes.

A safety cordon remains in place as emergency responders address the situation in Bristol.

An explosion was reported at a residential location on Sterncourt Road early today at around 6:30 am (Sunday, May 3).
