Prince Archie, who will soon turn seven, achieved a significant royal milestone despite his parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, stepping back from their royal duties when he was very young. In contrast, his older cousin, Prince Louis, is still awaiting his turn. During a royal tour to South Africa in 2019, Archie, just a few months old at the time, accompanied his parents and even had the chance to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Unlike Archie, eight-year-old Louis has not yet embarked on a royal tour, mainly due to travel restrictions in 2020 and 2021 amid the pandemic and his mother Kate’s health concerns. Archie’s older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were much younger when they went on their initial overseas tours. George’s first royal tour was at nine months old to Australia and New Zealand, while Charlotte made her debut at 16 months in Canada in 2016.
Archie’s younger sister, Princess Lilibet, approaching five, has not been part of any royal engagements as she was born in the United States and has only met her grandfather, the King, once. Despite being shielded from the public eye, Archie has featured on Meghan’s Instagram account, especially since she launched her As Ever business last year.
Born on May 6, 2019, at the Portland Hospital in London, Archie was named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and gained his prince title following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. He currently stands sixth in line to the throne and relocated to the US with his parents at 10 months old after their decision to step down as senior working royals for a life in California.
Last year, Meghan celebrated Archie’s sixth birthday on Instagram, sharing a photo of him admiring a beautiful sunset.
