“Iran Urges Trump: Resolve Conflict in 30 Days”

Date:

Iran has urged Donald Trump to conclude the ongoing conflict within 30 days by presenting a new 14-point proposal through Iranian state-related media. The proposal from Tehran emphasizes the swift resolution of all outstanding issues between Iran and the United States, aiming for a permanent cessation of hostilities rather than a simple extension of the current ceasefire.

President Donald Trump acknowledged receiving the Iranian proposal but expressed skepticism about reaching a deal, citing the need for Iran to face consequences for its actions over the past 47 years since the Islamic Revolution. Iran’s 14-point plan advocates for a complete halt to hostilities, requesting the lifting of sanctions, an end to the naval blockade, withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region, and cessation of military activities, including those of Israel in Lebanon.

Despite the extensive proposal, there was no mention of Iran’s nuclear program and enriched uranium, a longstanding point of contention between Iran and the U.S. The response from Iran was conveyed through a Pakistani intermediary, indicating ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue between the two nations.

While the fragile ceasefire remains intact, President Trump rejected a previous Iranian proposal earlier in the week. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi engaged in discussions with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al Busaidi, who had previously assisted in negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. Additionally, the U.S. presented a new plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil and gas trade.

Iran’s stance on the Strait of Hormuz remains firm, with the deputy parliament speaker affirming Iran’s commitment to control the strait and rejecting any return to pre-war conditions. Iran’s actions in shutting down the strait following the conflict initiation by the U.S. and Israel have significantly impacted trade routes, leading to tensions over naval blockades and economic repercussions.

Yousef Pezeshkian, an advisor to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, highlighted the persistent standoffs between the U.S. and Iran, with both sides claiming victory and showing no willingness to compromise. The situation reflects the deep-rooted disputes and challenges in the region that continue to shape diplomatic efforts and negotiations.
