Police have apprehended the son of the wealthy creator of the renowned Spanish fashion label Mango after he fell to his death from a cliff while hiking. Isak Andic, aged 71, passed away in December 2024 during a trek with his son Jonathan Andic, 45, near Barcelona. Initially deemed an accident, the investigation was reopened in March 2025, with authorities now treating the death as a potential homicide.
Jonathan Andic, the eldest son of the fashion tycoon and the sole companion on the hike with his father, was arrested by police in Catalonia. He was taken to court facilities in Martorell for further investigation. The incident occurred on a trail close to the Collbato Caves in the Montserrat mountain range, where Jonathan claimed his father accidentally fell.
Upon forensic analysis of the scene, discrepancies emerged between Jonathan’s account and the evidence, leading police to question the validity of his statements. Investigators noted Jonathan had visited the same trail a few days prior to the incident, although his defense argued it was for preparation purposes.
As one of Isak Andic’s heirs and the vice chairman of Mango’s board, Jonathan Andic is under scrutiny in his father’s demise. The Andic family, while acknowledging the ongoing investigation, maintains confidence in Jonathan’s innocence. Isak Andic, who relocated from Turkey to Spain as a child, was instrumental in Mango’s expansion from its inception in 1984, propelling it to become a prominent fast fashion brand in Europe.
With 2,900 stores across 120 global markets, Mango achieved a record revenue of nearly 3.8 billion euros in 2025, marking an 11% surge from the previous year.
