A female traveler from the UK faced a 24-hour delay at the airport after her suitcase was confiscated due to a personal item she had packed. Oliwia Krol, 24, was alarmed when she noticed airport staff holding a sign with her name but no sight of her luggage upon arrival.
After being led to an office, Oliwia feared she was in trouble and might be arrested, recalling scenes from Border Force episodes she had seen in the past. She expressed her anxiety, saying, “I was panicking as I didn’t understand what was happening and was thinking I was in a lot of trouble for something.”
Having flown from Koh Samui to Bangkok during her travels in Thailand, Oliwia discovered that her suitcase was not loaded onto the plane due to a suspected prohibited item, which airport personnel thought might be a cigarette lighter.
Once inside the office at Bangkok airport, she was requested to sign documents granting permission for a bag search. Oliwia shared, “At first they weren’t completely clear about what had flagged the bag. They mentioned it could either be a lighter or possibly an intimate item.”
The item causing the issue turned out to be a sex toy. After signing the necessary paperwork, airport staff conducted a search, leading to a 24-hour delay before Oliwia was notified via email to reclaim her suitcase.
Reflecting on the incident, Oliwia found humor in the situation, stating, “My friends found the whole thing hilarious afterwards and haven’t let me forget it since. Looking back now, it’s more funny than anything, just a very unexpected travel experience.”
