Carrie Johnson Opens Up About Traumatic Encounter

Date:

Carrie Johnson has shared her harrowing experience of being drugged by notorious black-cab rapist John Worboys, leaving her in a state where she felt like she wanted to end her life. As a 19-year-old student in 2007, Johnson, who is married to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, recounted how Worboys offered her a ride home after a night out in Chelsea, despite her not having enough money for the fare, citing concerns for her safety as a reason.

According to Johnson, Worboys claimed to have won money at a casino and offered her champagne to celebrate, which she refused, only to be given a spiked shot of vodka that caused her to lose consciousness upon reaching home. Reflecting on the incident during an interview on Good Morning Britain, Johnson described the distressing moment her mother found her in a vulnerable state.

Recalling the aftermath of the incident, Johnson mentioned that Worboys handed her his phone number as she exited the cab, a detail that later became crucial evidence for the authorities. Worboys, who was initially imprisoned in 2009 for multiple sexual offenses against 12 victims in London, subsequently faced additional charges stemming from further victims coming forward following media attention on his case.

In light of a miniseries shedding light on Worboys’ crimes, titled Believe Me, Johnson revealed that more women have reached out to her, expressing fears of having been in Worboys’ cab as well. She suggested that there could be potentially over 1,000 victims of Worboys during his tenure as a cab driver from 2000 to 2009.

Despite a Parole Board’s decision in 2017 to release Worboys being successfully challenged by his victims, a recent ruling denied him parole for the second time due to continued concerns over his threat to women. Worboys will undergo another parole review in approximately two years.
