Russia reportedly faced a significant blow with approximately 100 security service officers either killed or injured in an attack on an FSB headquarters in Ukraine. Video footage shows the Ukrainian strike, codenamed “Armageddon,” targeting the Putin spy base in the occupied Kherson region. The assault, executed by drones from Kyiv’s SBU security service, resulted in powerful explosions that demolished a multi-story building along with several others.
President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the outcome of the operation, emphasizing that a Russian FSB officers’ headquarters was hit, and a Pantsir-S1 air defense system was taken out in the temporarily held Ukrainian territory. He stated that the strike led to an estimated 100 Russian casualties, urging Russia to consider ending the ongoing conflict.
Zelensky threatened further strikes deep into Putin’s domain if the Kremlin rejects peace talks, mentioning that Ukrainian sanctions of varying ranges will persist. The attack on the FSB HQ in Kherson was branded as “carpet bombing” by the Ukraine Context Telegram channel, attributing the operation to the SBU’s Alpha unit.
The renowned Russian Pantsir-S1 system, utilized to protect Putin’s numerous residences, failed to repel the assault and was reportedly destroyed. There was no immediate response from Russian authorities following the attack.
