President Donald Trump plans to leave a lasting mark on the White House by constructing a $400 million ballroom, featuring extravagant and unusual details that have puzzled legislators. During a recent press briefing, Trump expressed his belief that the new building, which includes a ballroom, will be unique and unparalleled in its design.
The President proudly showcased the construction site where the ballroom will be located, emphasizing the innovative features of the project, such as a “dead flat” roof made of durable steel that can withstand drone impacts. Trump claimed that the roof will serve as a drone port to enhance security for Washington, with military personnel stationed on it to safeguard the city.
The new building, which will span six stories underground, is envisioned as a protective structure housing a military hospital, research facilities, offices for Melania, and a grand ballroom with a capacity for 1,000 guests. However, the completion date is set for September 2028, just six months before Trump’s term ends.
While private donors are expected to cover the building costs, Trump is seeking $1 billion in taxpayer funds for security expenses, a figure that represents a significant portion of the annual budget for citizenship and immigration services. Despite Trump’s assertion that the ballroom will be a “gift to the US,” a majority of Americans, as per a recent poll, oppose the project.
The President justifies the substantial expenditure by citing increased security benefits and referencing recent security incidents. Trump envisions the ballroom project as part of his broader initiative to redefine the US capital ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which includes cultural enhancements like changing the reflecting pool’s color and constructing a Paris-inspired monument dubbed the “Arc de Trump.”
