“Lottery Winner Surprises Ex-Colleagues with Gifts”

Date:

After winning a £5.2 million lottery prize, a former delivery driver decided to surprise his ex-colleagues at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex with gifts. Gary MacDonald, 61, who had been delivering parcels in the area for over three decades, left his job following his big win. He relocated to a new residence in Essex with his partner Anita and fulfilled his promise to revisit his old workplace by presenting them with hampers of treats.

Reflecting on the past year, MacDonald expressed his amazement at the turn of events, from winning the jackpot to getting married and settling into a new home. Despite his retirement, he was eager to make a special visit to reconnect with his former coworkers and spread some joy.

Manager Donna Samuels of Babyeze shop expressed her astonishment at seeing MacDonald again, describing his gesture as touching and typical of his generous nature. She recalled his daily presence at work, his cheerful demeanor, and the concern his sudden absence had caused before learning about his lottery win.

MacDonald shared that his early morning routine as a delivery driver had been a source of pride, attributing the joy of his lottery success to the connections he had built with people during his workdays. He mentioned that seeing the happy faces of his former colleagues made the visit worthwhile, despite his wife Anita taking advantage of the occasion for a bit of shopping.

In a previous statement, MacDonald humorously mentioned his first post-win purchase of a Shark vacuum cleaner. The heartwarming reunion with his old colleagues served as a reminder of the bonds formed during his time as a dedicated delivery driver.
