“UK Lecturer Hospitalized in Greece Needs £10K for Repatriation”

A university lecturer from the UK is currently hospitalized in Greece after a serious quad bike accident during a holiday in Crete. Chathurika Goonawardane, who teaches computer science in Manchester, suffered severe injuries from falling off a cliff while riding as a quad bike passenger.

Due to her condition, Chathurika cannot return to the UK on a regular commercial flight and requires specialized medical transport while lying flat. The estimated cost for her safe repatriation exceeds £10,000, with ongoing fundraising efforts having gathered over £3,000 so far.

Friends and colleagues are rallying support to bring Chathurika back home for her recovery, emphasizing her dedication to supporting others through her university work. They urge donations and assistance in spreading awareness about the fundraising campaign to help facilitate her return to the UK for continued medical care and rehabilitation.
