Jet2 to Launch Santorini and Preveza Flights from Leeds Bradford

Date:

Jet2 has revealed that it will introduce two new captivating Greek destinations from Leeds Bradford Airport. Commencing in summer 2027, the airline will operate flights to Santorini and Preveza for the first time. Flights to Preveza will be available every Sunday until October 10, 2027, while Santorini flights will depart on Thursdays until October 7, 2027.

Santorini, known for its breathtaking beauty and geological marvels, has always been a prominent attraction in Greek tourism. The island’s dramatic terrain, shaped by a significant volcanic eruption in history, features towering cliffs surrounding a caldera, topped with traditional whitewashed Greek villages offering stunning sea views. Oia and Fira, the bustling capital of the island, are the iconic images associated with Santorini.

Perched on the rim of an extinct volcano, Oia offers mesmerizing views of the turquoise waters from its numerous cliffside buildings. This is the picturesque Santorini that one often sees on social media platforms, bustling with tourists during the summer. A short 20-minute journey from Oia takes you to Fira, where cliff-top paths offer panoramic views, hidden gems to explore, and a variety of interesting boutiques and dining options.

Preveza, a hidden gem in northwestern Greece, offers an authentic and tranquil Mediterranean escape. Combining ancient heritage, stunning coastal views, and exceptional seafood, Preveza is often overlooked in favor of neighboring Lefkada or Parga, making it a perfect relaxed retreat for travelers. With 60km of pristine beaches, rich history, and vibrant nightlife, the region is also connected to the Greek mainland through the country’s first undersea tunnel.

Jet2’s Summer 2027 schedule at Leeds Bradford Airport will be its most extensive to date, with nearly two million seats available across 53 routes. In addition to the new services to Santorini and Preveza, the airline will also launch flights to popular Egyptian destinations, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, from the North East airport next year.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, expressed excitement about the growing demand for their flights and holidays, highlighting the expanded program from Leeds Bradford Airport as a response to customers’ preferences for more choices and flexibility. Declan Maguire, Aviation director at Leeds Bradford Airport, emphasized the importance of adding Preveza and Santorini to the airport’s route network, offering Yorkshire residents a wider array of travel options for their upcoming vacations.
