“Steep Ravine Reopens at Bluestone Resort”

Date:

A popular tourist spot in the UK has reopened to visitors after being closed for two years due to storm damage. The Steep Ravine at Bluestone National Park Resort was shut down following Storm Darragh in December 2024 and remained inaccessible until this week.

Efforts to restore the area included rehabilitating woodland sections damaged by the storms and strategically retaining fallen timber and natural debris to aid in soil recovery and encourage new plant growth. The revamped Steep Ravine now features new attractions such as the ‘Summit Flight’, a 279m zip line adventure, and the ‘Double Glide’ zip lines designed for gradual confidence-building.

In addition to the reopening of the Ravine at the award-winning Pembrokeshire resort, Camp Smokey and Smokey Joe’s Shindig are back in operation. Camp Smokey offers outdoor dining with BBQ feasts and marshmallow toasting, while Smokey Joe’s Shindig provides evening entertainment with family sing-alongs and dancing.

James McNamara, the director of product and program development at Bluestone, expressed the significance of the Ravine to guests and the careful restoration process undertaken to ensure its safety and preservation.

Summer getaways at Bluestone start from £400 for a four-night stay at a Caldey Lodge with arrival on June 8, 2026. The resort, as experienced by this publication’s Steffan Rhys, seamlessly integrates with the natural surroundings of Pembrokeshire, offering a modern and luxurious holiday experience.

Beyond Bluestone, Pembrokeshire boasts attractions like the coastal village of Saundersfoot, voted the best seaside town in the UK for 2026, and the awe-inspiring Blue Lagoon, a top wild swimming location in the country.
