Although Apple states that only a small number of users are impacted, it is advised for all iPhone owners to ensure their devices are updated.
The affected models, including the iPhone 17 range (Pro and Pro Max) and iPhone Air, require the update to resolve the wired charging problem when the battery is nearly depleted, according to Apple.
Updating your device is simple; navigate to Settings, tap General, and select Software Update. Look for iOS 26.5.1 and choose to update immediately or schedule it for overnight installation. Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection or have sufficient mobile data as the update file is substantial at 13.6GB.
