“Teen’s Leg Amputated After Bank Holiday Stabbing”

A 17-year-old boy from Cardiff required a leg amputation after being stabbed on Bank Holiday Monday, according to South Wales Police. The incident, which occurred on Barry Island, resulted in the teenager sustaining a severe leg injury. The victim underwent a life-altering leg amputation and is currently receiving critical care at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Initially thought to be non-life-threatening, the injury later necessitated the amputation procedure, as confirmed by the police in an update. An 18-year-old man from Riverside, Cardiff, has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and is currently on bail as the investigation progresses.

Detective Inspector Sarah Lee of South Wales Police expressed deep concern over the extent of the victim’s injury, describing it as devastating. The victim’s family has been provided with a dedicated family liaison officer for support. The investigation, involving extensive review of CCTV footage and witness interviews, is ongoing.

The incident, which took place on a particularly hot day during the half-term holiday, prompted a significant emergency service presence, with cordoned-off areas around the scene.
