“Fire in Sheffield City Center Restaurant Under Control”

Date:

A significant fire in Sheffield city center prompted firefighters to advise residents to keep their windows and doors shut as thick, black smoke billowed from a building near Hollis Croft and Rockingham Street. The blaze, which occurred in a restaurant on Garden Street, is now under control with no reported casualties.

Authorities have closed Garden Street and Hollis Croft for the next few hours while firefighters continue to dampen down the scene. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to avoid the area. Emergency services responded to the fire, including ambulances and the Hazardous Area Response Team, but no individuals required hospital transport.

Witnesses reported observing flames on the roof of Hot Pot Heroes, a takeaway on Garden Street, with a fire alarm sounding around 12:30 pm. Nearby individuals were evacuated around 1 pm. Initial unconfirmed reports hinted that the fire might have started in a flat.

Pictures circulating online show smoke and flames rising from the building in Sheffield city center. Firefighters remain on-site, urging residents and workers in the vicinity to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke. Authorities advise the public to steer clear of the area until the incident is resolved safely.
