Ex-Met Officer Denies Fraud Charges in High-End Store Scam

Date:

A former Metropolitan Police officer has entered a plea of not guilty after being accused of defrauding high-end stores of valuable merchandise worth thousands of pounds, which included items like a £700 bikini and a MacBook.

Sunna Harrison-Aziz, aged 28 and hailing from Coulsdon, South London, faces multiple charges related to corruption and fraud, with accusations that she falsely claimed non-receipt of goods she had ordered online.

Charged with five counts of misusing police powers, four counts of fraudulent misrepresentation, and one count of obstructing justice, the ex-Met constable appeared at Southwark Crown Court and denied all 10 charges. She was accompanied by Edgar Morais, 30, from Croydon, who pleaded not guilty to a single charge of encouraging Harrison-Aziz to misuse her police authority.

Among the allegations, Harrison-Aziz is accused of feigning non-receipt of a £700 Dior bikini and falsely reporting non-delivery of an Apple MacBook valued at £2,599 from Currys. Similar fraudulent claims were made against Cartier and Moncler Spa for items worth nearly £2,000 and £840, respectively.

Additionally, the former officer is accused of improperly accessing police files on five occasions between January and September 2022. She also faces an allegation of attempting to obstruct justice by concealing her iPhone from authorities, falsely reporting it lost or damaged, and subsequently destroying it after a police search of her residence.

A trial date has been scheduled for March 27, 2028, as confirmed by Judge Nicholas Rimmer, who acknowledged Harrison-Aziz’s not guilty pleas and the distant trial date due to court scheduling constraints.

Another defendant, Eugene Nunoo, 30, from Eastbourne, East Sussex, also denied a charge of encouraging Harrison-Aziz to abuse her police powers during a separate court appearance via video link.
