“Daughter Confesses to Killing Mother in Tragic Christmas Incident”

Date:

A woman calmly confessed to the police that she had killed her own mother after a failed suicide attempt on Christmas Day. Stefania Glowka, 64, is facing trial for the alleged murder of her 86-year-old mother, Tamara Glowka, whom she strangled with a belt in what prosecutors described as a deliberate act of violence. The court was informed that Stefania had been the sole caregiver for her mother for 17 years and reached a point where she could no longer handle the responsibility.

According to prosecutors, Stefania’s initial plan was to take her own life after killing her mother by stabbing herself in the stomach and neck. However, her suicide attempts were unsuccessful, leading to her arrest for murder while receiving medical treatment in an ambulance. Stefania has confessed to the killing and pleaded guilty to manslaughter, citing diminished responsibility as the reason for her actions.

In a chilling video and audio recording played in court, Stefania can be heard telling officers that she had killed her mother and attempted to harm herself but was too weak. She admitted to strangling her mother, stating that she knew for certain her mother was dead. Stefania expressed feelings of failure and regret, indicating that she had reached a breaking point.

The prosecution emphasized that while there was no dispute that Stefania had unlawfully killed her mother, her guilty plea to manslaughter did not fully acknowledge her level of responsibility. The court was presented with evidence suggesting that Stefania had planned the events leading up to the killing, as indicated by a letter found in her possession addressed to a friend, outlining her reasons for the tragic act.

Stefania, a retired veterinarian who had moved to the UK from Poland in 1994, had been struggling with the deteriorating health of her mother and her own mental well-being. Despite claiming an abnormality of mental function, the prosecution argued that Stefania’s actions were calculated and deliberate, demonstrating her capability to understand the consequences of her actions.

The trial is ongoing, with the prosecution maintaining that Stefania’s mental state did not substantially impair her responsibility for the murder. The court is tasked with determining whether Stefania’s actions were a result of diminished responsibility or a deliberate and conscious decision.
