Two individuals have been swiftly transported to a medical facility following an aircraft crash in a field near Pitsford. The incident involving a light plane occurred close to Northampton around 3:50 pm, prompting a response from law enforcement and fire department teams.
The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service took action by closing off adjacent roads to facilitate the arrival of emergency services and the evacuation of two individuals from the aircraft. Subsequently, the injured parties were handed over to paramedics before being transferred to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire for further medical attention.
According to former local council member James Hill, eyewitnesses, including his children, observed the aircraft performing maneuvers resembling loops and struggling moments before the crash. Hill recounted that the aircraft’s stability seemed compromised before it eventually went down.
Northamptonshire Police has initiated an investigation into the crash. A police spokesperson confirmed receiving reports of the light aircraft accident near Pitsford and the subsequent hospitalization of two individuals. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been notified of the incident.
In an official statement released later, the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service detailed their response to the emergency, stating that firefighters arrived promptly at the scene following reports of the aircraft’s emergency landing. The fire service continues to collaborate with the police and ambulance services at the crash site.
A representative from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) disclosed that an inquiry has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident involving the light aircraft near Brixworth, Northamptonshire.
