Turkish flight collides with pole post-landing

Date:

Passengers on a Turkish flight had a frightening experience when their plane collided with a pole during taxiing after landing. The incident at Antalya International Airport involved a Boeing 777, causing damage to the fuselage and triggering the deployment of oxygen masks inside the cabin.

The aircraft, which had just arrived from Istanbul, struck a radar mast with its right wing while moving towards its parking spot. The impact created a hole in the fuselage, dislodged storage bins, and led to oxygen masks dropping in multiple rows, leaving passengers in a state of panic.

Despite the alarming situation, all 267 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated with only minor injuries reported. Turkish Airlines has initiated a technical investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Transport, the plane veered into the wrong lane on the taxiway after landing and collided with the radar mast. Following the evacuation and necessary checks, the damaged aircraft was towed to a parking area for further assessment.

The Boeing 777-300ER, with registration TC-LKD, sustained significant damage to its right wing and fuselage, necessitating extensive repairs. The investigation into the incident is ongoing to ascertain the full details of what transpired.
