England supporters have begun their journey to Dallas from various parts of the world in anticipation of the World Cup match against Croatia. Fans from Spain, Scandinavia, and Australia are converging in Texas as the excitement builds for England’s first game. One fan, Sam Bannister, 41, is traveling overnight from Kansas City to Dallas, facing an eight-hour, 500-mile road trip to make it in time for the 3 pm kickoff. Fan groups estimate that around 10,000 England supporters will be present at the match, highlighting concerns about the high temperatures expected during the game.
Among the travelers is Chris, accompanied by his friend Chris Thomas, 40, both hailing from Leeds. Chris, known for selling traditional British pies with a street food company named ‘Brit Boy’ in Kansas City, will be joined by fellow Brit Kye Martey and his American wife Sandi for the journey. Reflecting on the upcoming match, Chris expressed a mix of excitement and nervousness, emphasizing the desire to see England put in a strong performance.
Another fan, George Smith, a finance professional residing in San Diego, California and a supporter of Exeter City, is also en route to the England group games. George, 42, is taking his son Charlie, 11, along with him to experience the matches. He plans to attend the games with Three Lions fans from Spain, Scandinavia, and Australia. Additionally, George intends to bring his Mexican-born wife, Monica, to the Azteca stadium if England faces her native country in the Round of 16.
George has invested approximately $7,000 (£5,178) in tickets for himself and his family, with the total expenditure potentially reaching £12,000 depending on England’s progress in the tournament.
