American rapper Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a woman at his Louisiana home in 2022. The victim described in court how Mystikal punched, choked, and forcibly raped her, leading her to request the maximum sentence for the crime.
Addressing the court, Mystikal acknowledged the severity of the situation, stating that if he committed the acts, he deserved the maximum punishment. Known for his hit single ‘Shake Ya Ass’ released in 2000, Mystikal received the 20-year sentence for third-degree rape.
Initially facing charges of first-degree rape and false imprisonment, Mystikal later admitted guilt to lesser charges of third-degree rape. However, he tried to retract his guilty plea, citing emotional distress and insufficient consideration of the consequences before confessing.
During the trial, the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, testified that Mystikal assaulted her, took her belongings, and forced her to send him money via CashApp after the assault. This case has garnered significant attention due to the seriousness of the charges and the subsequent legal proceedings.
