Iain Robertson, a former River City actor known for his role as Stevie O’Hara, is facing allegations of abusive behavior towards a woman over a period spanning from 2013 to 2015. The woman described Robertson as a ‘violent alcoholic’ who exhibited controlling and manipulative behavior, leading to instances of physical and emotional abuse.
In addition to the charges related to the woman, Robertson has also been accused of assaulting another woman in 2014 and engaging in rape and other offenses involving multiple women over a 16-year period. Robertson has denied all accusations brought against him.
During the trial, one of the alleged victims testified that she met Robertson in 2012 or 2013, initially finding him charming before his behavior turned controlling and threatening. She detailed incidents where Robertson attempted to isolate her from friends and family, displayed aggressive behavior while intoxicated, and engaged in physical violence.
The woman recounted specific instances, including a frightening incident during a holiday where Robertson displayed aggressive behavior while driving, causing her fear. She also described an incident where Robertson became threatening and aggressive towards her during an argument, leading to physical confrontation.
Despite Robertson’s apologies via calls, texts, and emails, the woman maintained her account of the events, emphasizing the heightened nature of the incidents that matched the apologetic tone of his messages.
The trial, overseen by Lady Drummond, is ongoing as further evidence is presented.
