Young Cyclist Killed in Collision with Lorry

A young male cyclist tragically lost his life in a collision in Co Waterford, as confirmed by authorities. The incident occurred in Ballygalane, Lismore, just after 11 am on Tuesday. Police are seeking witnesses to the accident, which involved a stationary lorry. The cyclist was declared dead at the scene, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted at University Hospital Waterford following notification to the coroner. Fortunately, the male lorry driver was unharmed. The road was temporarily closed for investigation by Garda forensic collision experts but has now been reopened. Gardai issued a statement urging anyone with information about the fatal incident, which occurred between a parked lorry and a cyclist, to come forward. They specifically requested camera footage from motorists traveling on the N72 route between Lismore and Cappoquin between 10:30 am and 11:15 am on June 16, 2026, to assist in the investigation.
