The upcoming days will see temperatures rising to 32C as the Met Office has identified eight regions set to experience intense heat conditions.
Weather experts have projected that the UK will surpass its heatwave threshold temperatures this weekend, with the heat persisting until Monday, June 22.
Starting from Friday, June 19, temperatures are expected to climb, with southern parts of England anticipating highs of 30C. The mercury levels are set to reach 32C by Sunday, June 21, across the south and southeast regions of England, as confirmed by the Met Office.
According to Jo Farrow, a meteorologist from Netweather.tv, warm air will move towards southeastern Britain on Friday and expand over more southern areas by Sunday and Monday.
Farrow mentioned, “Temperatures in East Anglia, London, the Home Counties, and other parts of southern England will rise into the high 20s and, for some, even the low 30s.”
This surge in temperatures will likely exceed the UK’s heatwave threshold, with a high probability of meeting the criteria for ‘three consecutive days’ over the weekend and into Monday.
Sunday is anticipated to be sunny and dry as high pressure consolidates over the UK. Temperatures in the south could range from 27 to potentially 32 or 33C later in the week and into Monday.
The Met Office’s forecast indicates a gradual increase in temperatures, with southern England approaching 30C by Friday, depending on cloud cover, and a broader warm-up expected through the weekend.
The forecast predicts, “Certain areas in the south and southeast of England are likely to meet the heatwave criteria by Saturday and more extensively by Sunday, with temperatures possibly hitting the low 30s in the warmest spots.”
Key temperature projections include: 32C on Friday in East Anglia, 28C on Saturday as the warmest air shifts temporarily away from the UK, 32C in the south and southeast of England on Sunday, and the potential for 33C in the same areas on Monday as warmth returns from the south.
