A young British golfer was surprised to find her golf ball resting on a six-foot snake while playing at a golf course in the UK. The 12-year-old junior golfer was part of a group led by PGA Pro Aaron Cox at Blackwell Grange Golf Club in Darlington, County Durham. The incident occurred on the par 4 fifth hole during a round of golf.
Upon reaching the location where her ball landed, the young golfer discovered a boa constrictor coiled up with her ball nearby. Boa constrictors, known for strangling their prey, are not native to the UK but are commonly found in tropical regions of the Americas as one of the largest snake species.
Despite the presence of the snake, Pro Aaron Cox, originally from Australia, remained calm, having encountered larger snakes in his home country. However, some members of the group were alarmed by the unexpected encounter.
After assessing the situation, Aaron and head pro Peter Raine managed to safely relocate the snake into a cardboard box. The snake was later taken to a pet shop for care and is reported to be in good health. This unusual incident has prompted the golf course to consider implementing measures to prevent such encounters in the future.
