A person believed to be the primary suspect in the case of the disappearance of four-year-old Gus Lamont has come forward with explosive claims, stating that the police suspect her involvement in the boy’s vanishing. The suspect, identified as the grandparent Josie Murray, refuted the allegations, asserting her innocence despite police suspicions.
Gus Lamont was last seen playing outside his family’s sheep station, Oak Park Station, near Yunta in the Australian Outback on September 27. Despite extensive searches of the area, no trace of the toddler has been found on the vast South Australian sheep farm.
In an exclusive interview with 7News’ Spotlight program, the 75-year-old grandparent disclosed that she is considered the main suspect by the police in Gus’ disappearance. She refuted the police theory that suggests she may have buried Gus to conceal an accidental death, deeming it illogical and implausible.
Ms. Murray speculated that Gus might have been abducted, citing peculiar tire tracks and a footprint resembling one of Gus’ shoes near the property’s dam as potential evidence. However, she claimed that the authorities dismissed this lead.
South Australia Police Commissioner Stevens emphasized that evidence does not support the theory that Gus wandered off, despite extensive search efforts. To date, no one has been charged in connection with Gus’ disappearance.
During the same interview, Ms. Murray recounted a previous incident where Gus had gone missing on the property, further complicating the investigation into his current disappearance.
The investigation into Gus Lamont’s disappearance has been extensive, involving multiple agencies and organizations in search efforts. Despite numerous searches and inquiries, no substantial evidence has been found, leaving the case unresolved. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke continues to provide updates on the investigation, addressing the public’s interest in the matter.
Task Force Horizon remains committed to exploring all leads and information, including insights from Gus’ family, to uncover the truth behind his disappearance. As the investigation progresses, the police refrain from disclosing specific details that could jeopardize potential legal proceedings.
