“Tragic Bungee Jump Death in Brazil: Three Detained”

Date:

Authorities are probing an incident in Brazil where a young woman met a tragic end after being pushed off a popular bungee jump spot. Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, also known as Duda, fell from a 130ft high bridge in Limeira, Sao Paulo state, on June 13. Shocking footage captured the moment the 21-year-old was taken to the edge of the bridge before being thrown off without a safety rope. São Paulo’s Civil Police have updated that three individuals, including a 29-year-old woman and two men aged 25 and 27, have been detained in connection with the case. The police suspect possible tampering with crucial evidence, particularly the missing camera used by the victim during the jump.

Temporary arrest warrants were issued by the 2nd Criminal Court of Limeira against the three suspects, who are currently in custody. Search and seizure warrants have also been executed at their residences to collect potential evidence. The investigation is focusing on the suspected role of the detained individuals in organizing and carrying out the fatal jump. Police are exploring the likelihood of intentional crimes against life and procedural fraud, aiming to uncover the truth behind the incident and locate the crucial camera used by Maria during the fatal leap.

In an exclusive statement to the Daily Mail, Maria’s family expressed their profound grief over her untimely death, highlighting the immense loss they feel. The family described Maria’s aspirations for the future, including marriage and starting a family, all of which were abruptly cut short by the tragic event. They appreciated the support received from the public and the media in seeking justice and sharing their story.

Following the incident, the abandoned bridge is scheduled for demolition due to safety concerns raised by unregulated bungee operators using the structure. Demolition work commenced shortly after the tragic incident, signaling the end of the bridge’s existence.
