Ukraine has reportedly obtained support from the United States to escalate its military actions against Russia with the aim of pressuring Vladimir Putin into negotiations, as per a recent report.
According to a senior Ukrainian official cited by the Kyiv Independent, US President Donald Trump encouraged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to adopt a more aggressive approach in attacking Russian infrastructure during their private meeting. The official mentioned that Trump expressed skepticism about Putin’s willingness to act without external pressure.
This development follows Trump’s recent statement at the G7 summit in France, where he suggested that Moscow should negotiate to end the conflict in Ukraine, noting the significant human losses suffered by both Russia and Ukraine.
In response, Ukraine has increased its use of medium-range drones to disrupt Russian supply routes and conducted long-range strikes targeting oil facilities crucial for Russia’s war efforts. Ukrainian forces recently targeted key infrastructure in Crimea, aiming to isolate the peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014.
With diplomatic efforts stalled, Ukraine has intensified its efforts to disrupt supply lines and power grids in Crimea, particularly during the peak tourist season. Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov indicated that Crimea could soon be isolated, potentially leading to unexpected consequences for Russia.
Furthermore, Ukraine has launched drone strikes deep into Russian territory, targeting oil refineries that support Moscow’s military operations. Ukrainian President Zelensky reported drone strikes on a Russian oil refinery in the Tyumen region, over 1,200 miles away from Ukraine.
The ongoing conflict has seen increased hostilities, with Russia conducting strikes across Ukraine resulting in casualties. Notably, recent drone attacks on Russian infrastructure, including refineries close to the Kremlin, have marked significant escalations in the conflict.
