A man passed away after being restrained on a flight from Cyprus to Manchester. Callum Kerr was on a Jet2 flight from Larnaca to Manchester with his girlfriend on June 21 when he reportedly became disruptive and aggressive due to excessive alcohol consumption. Fellow passengers restrained him, and upon landing, he was found unresponsive by officers. Mr. Kerr, in his 30s, succumbed to his condition later. The police responded to reports of an assault on the flight upon its arrival at Manchester Airport in the early hours of June 22.
Video footage online depicted officers boarding the plane and discovering Mr. Kerr, a bareknuckle boxer, in distress. Immediate CPR was administered, and a defibrillator was utilized before he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
Tributes on social media poured in for Mr. Kerr, with one saying, “Can’t believe I’m writing this RIP Callum Kerr wtf.” Another post read, “God bless mate we’ll catch up again.” An ongoing investigation has been initiated post the incident, with Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirming the probe into the disruptive behavior displayed towards passengers and crew during the flight.
Jet2 confirmed that flight LS966 from Larnaca to Manchester requested a priority landing on June 22 due to a disruptive passenger. The airline stated that the passenger was hospitalized, and further comments were withheld pending the investigation.
