“Tragic Heatwave Death: Toddler Left in Car in France”

An 18-month-old child tragically passed away in France during the ongoing heatwave after being unintentionally left in a car by a parent en route to work. The incident occurred at the university medical campus in Marseille, where the child was discovered unconscious in a parked vehicle.

Emergency responders quickly transported the child to La Timone Hospital due to severe hyperthermia, but despite efforts, the child did not survive.

According to reports from BFM Marseille Provence, the parent inadvertently left the toddler in the car while heading to work at the campus.

This heartbreaking event unfolded amidst France’s scorching heatwave, with temperatures significantly exceeding typical seasonal norms across the nation. The intense heatwave, which has brought temperatures ranging between 32C and 38C in various regions of France and western Europe, is forecasted to persist until the week’s end, as per AccuWeather.

Wednesday marked France’s hottest day on record, as confirmed by the national weather agency Météo-France. The temperature peaked at 43.8C in Palluau, located in the Vendée department, surpassing the previous national temperature record.
