“Rescue Operation After Microlight Crash in UK Sea”

Date:

A small aircraft crash-landed in the sea near a UK coastline, prompting a rescue operation. The incident occurred close to Cardigan Island, off the coast of Gwbert in south Wales. The aircraft, identified as a microlight, encountered difficulties and ended up in Cardigan Bay around 6 pm. Two individuals were found on the plane’s wing at sea and were rescued by a lifeboat. They were then transferred to the Welsh Ambulance Service for further assistance. Emergency responders, including RNLI crews and a coastguard rescue helicopter, were involved in the rescue operation.

Details about any potential injuries sustained by the passengers have not been disclosed by the coastguard, but reports suggest that they were not seriously harmed. The coastguard received a distress call about the incident and swiftly deployed resources to the scene. Meanwhile, in a separate incident earlier that day, a pilot tragically lost their life in a light aircraft crash near Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon. The pilot, believed to be a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities, including the police and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, are investigating the crash, urging the public to refrain from speculating about the circumstances. Superintendent Jo Arundale emphasized the sensitivity of the situation and appealed for cooperation from the public while offering condolences to the pilot’s loved ones.
