A British travel firm has gone into administration, resulting in the cancellation of numerous planned trips. Groupia Ltd, a company specializing in group vacations like stag and hen weekends, has ceased operations after 24 years. The company, headquartered in Bath, offered a variety of group holiday packages to various destinations within the UK and Europe, such as Barcelona, Croatia, Prague, and Split.
Established in 2002, the company, also known as Groupia Golf, GoHen, StagWeb, Groupia School Trips, and Company Away Day, reportedly assisted over 750,000 holidaymakers. Their goal was to simplify group travel, offering options ranging from spa retreats to golf outings and corporate team-building weekends.
Groupia handled split payments and coordination for group trips, allowing customers to enjoy a hassle-free experience. However, after more than two decades, the company will no longer facilitate bookings. Nigel Fox and Christopher Marsden from S&W Partners LLP have been appointed as Joint Administrators, as confirmed on the Groupia website. The company is no longer accepting new bookings and has arrangements with ABTOT to assist customers with existing bookings.
Customers with bookings made on or before August 31, 2026, will proceed as scheduled. Those with bookings from September 1, 2026, onwards will be refunded as their trips are canceled. Detailed refund procedures can be found on the Groupia website.
Although officially launched in 2002, the concept of Groupia took shape earlier. The founder, Simon Denning, conceived the idea in 1999 to address the challenges he faced while organizing a Best Man trip. Praised for simplifying group travel arrangements, Groupia aimed to offer affordable and convenient options for customers.
