In a shocking incident, a man has been accused of murdering a 17-year-old Thai girl, Tunchanok Donhomla. The suspect, identified as Simon Peter Carman, allegedly engaged in communication with a sex worker via WhatsApp while the victim’s body was concealed in his residence. Carman faces multiple charges including murder, body concealment, body manipulation, and exploitation of a minor for sexual purposes.
Authorities claim that Carman strangled the teenager following a dispute over payment for sexual services on June 25. Subsequently, he purportedly hid her body inside his apartment. During this time, he was reportedly exchanging messages with a local sex worker through WhatsApp, expressing fatigue and plans to go swimming.
The woman who received Carman’s messages became alarmed upon discovering his arrest in connection with the girl’s alleged murder shortly after. Carman and the victim, known as “Cake,” were last seen together entering his building near Jomtien Beach. Surveillance footage captured them holding hands, with Tunchanok messaging a friend via the Line app about her whereabouts.
According to Thai police, Tunchanok mentioned the messy state of Carman’s apartment upon her arrival, where they had agreed on a price for services that later led to a disagreement over payment. Carman reportedly admitted to investigators that he may have strangled her during the altercation, causing her unconsciousness and subsequent demise.
Carman, denying the murder accusations, claims self-defense, alleging that the victim menaced him with a knife. Surveillance footage later captured Carman leaving his hotel with a large suitcase, which was found to contain Tunchanok’s body after her friend reported her missing.
Carman was apprehended at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport while attempting to flee to Perth. Authorities noted the victim’s facial injuries indicative of a violent assault. Tunchanok’s grieving family expressed shock and disbelief over her tragic fate, describing her as a helpful and kind individual.
The victim’s stepmother and father conveyed their deep sorrow and disbelief upon learning about the tragic events. Tunchanok’s mother expressed fear and sadness, hoping against the grim reality that unfolded.
