An individual described as “armed and dangerous” has been named as the key suspect in an explosion in Monaco that resulted in critical injuries to a Ukrainian oligarch, a woman, and a teenage boy.
Interpol, the global police organization, is set to issue a red notice for the woman in her thirties, following an arrest warrant.
Although the woman’s identity has not been disclosed publicly, surveillance footage captured her outside the Sun’s Palace, a high-end apartment complex owned by victim Vadym Yermolaiev.
She is believed to have left a backpack that exploded in the foyer area, activating the device from approximately 12 meters away just before 9 pm.
According to an investigative source, a witness identified the prime suspect as a Ukrainian woman in her thirties.
Video footage showed the woman wearing a black bucket hat and long-sleeved attire as she fled on foot into France, where there are no border checkpoints. It is reported that she was headed towards Beausoleil in France and has since traveled on to Italy.
The source mentioned that the suspect is armed, dangerous, and possibly accompanied by accomplices, cautioning that she should be approached with extreme care.
French and Monégasque legal authorities have initiated a criminal inquiry into charges of attempted murder, placing an explosive device on a public roadway with malicious intent, and involvement in criminal conspiracy.
Stéphane Thibault, the Monaco prosecutor leading the investigation in Monte Carlo, stated, “We are working to apprehend the suspect.”
