A family in California has shared that they are staying in their vehicles to be near their daughter, who was attacked by a group of dogs. The victim, a seven-year-old girl named Patricia according to her family, sustained severe injuries to her scalp and legs during the incident in Tehama County’s Corning area on June 27, as confirmed by the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.
Following the traumatic attack, an online fundraiser initiated by Patricia’s grandmother, Monica Edmiston, disclosed that Patricia was in critical condition, with her scalp torn off and multiple wounds on her body. After initial treatment at a local hospital, Patricia was transferred to a trauma center outside the area for advanced medical care, including emergency surgery at UC Davis Medical Center.
A recent update on the fundraiser reported that Patricia’s condition has improved, albeit with lingering fear, praising her resilience and mentioning a challenging recovery journey. The family expressed gratitude for the community’s support and generosity, with donations exceeding $4,100.
Monica Edmiston explained that the fundraiser was set up as Patricia’s father and brothers had been staying in their car in Sacramento to be close to Patricia, needing assistance with essentials like gas and food. The Corning Union Elementary School District also extended well-wishes to Patricia, identifying her as a student and wishing her a speedy recovery.
Authorities seized six dogs believed to be involved in the attack for investigation purposes, transferring them to the Tehama County Animal Shelter. The sheriff’s office confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
