“Duke of Cambridge Bowls with Welsh Schoolkids Amid Brother’s Legal Woes”

Date:

The Duke of Cambridge displayed joyful enthusiasm as he engaged in a game of bowls with youngsters at a Welsh school in the city today. Prince William, aged 44, participated in outdoor sports activities with students and Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games competitors at The London Welsh School in Hanwell.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, his estranged younger brother faced a legal setback upon losing a high-profile £50m privacy lawsuit against the Daily Mail publisher. The Duke of Sussex, aged 41, was discussing the Invictus Games at Chatham House in London when the news broke, while his elder sibling was attending an event in west London.

During his visit, William interacted with students from Ysgol Gymraeg Llundain and a few athletes gearing up for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He encouraged the team and expressed excitement for a fantastic summer of sports ahead, including potential success for England in the World Cup.

The Prince conversed with athletes, including Julie Thomas, a remarkable para bowls athlete from Wales who overcame sight loss in 2014 to achieve significant success in the sport. Thomas praised William for his genuine interest and warmth towards the athletes, noting his enthusiasm and knowledge about their endeavors.

The school gifted Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis three plush toy versions of Finnie, the official mascot of this year’s Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Earlier, a life-size Finnie the unicorn engaged with William, culminating in a playful “secret handshake” with the schoolchildren.

Before departing, the Prince briefly engaged in netball with the children and conversed with teachers at the bilingual Welsh-English primary school. Established in 1958, the school plays a vital role in promoting the Welsh language among families in London.

William expressed admiration for the school’s efforts and discussed the children’s bilingual challenges, noting their preference for thinking in Welsh. As a parting gesture, he received a Glasgow 2026 games tartan tie and Team Wales T-shirts for his family.
