“UK Considers IRGC, IMCR, and GRU Volunteer Corps as Terrorist Groups”

Date:

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been labeled as a terrorist group by Keir Starmer, indicating that members could potentially face life imprisonment for posing a national security threat. This decision is part of a new state threats power that will also target the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right (IMCR) and Russia’s GRU Volunteer Corps.

If Parliament approves this designation later in the week, individuals involved in acts of sabotage, such as arson, on behalf of these organizations may face severe consequences. The IMCR has been linked to multiple attacks on Jewish and Israeli communities in the UK, including the arson attack on four Hatzola ambulances in north London.

According to the Home Office, the IMCR attacks in Europe were likely orchestrated by members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Qods Force. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood believes that the IRGC has been involved in foreign power threat activities based on available evidence.

The decision to designate these bodies as threats stems from the Home Secretary’s belief that it is essential to protect the safety and interests of the United Kingdom. This move follows careful consideration of evidence and advice from various government and operational entities, satisfying the statutory test for designation.
