Primark has launched a new pricing strategy by reducing prices on numerous popular items. Customers can now enjoy discounted rates on various products such as cotton-rich jeans for £9, pure-cotton pyjamas starting at £7, and viral boyfriend PJs for women and kids now priced at £13 and £8, respectively.
These price reductions are also applicable to children’s clothing, including tops and bottoms available from £2 each. The updated pricing is effective immediately on new collections in stores and will extend to the upcoming autumn/winter line.
According to Matt Houston, Chief Customer Officer at Primark, value is crucial to today’s customers, and the brand aims to maintain its reputation for offering affordable fashion without compromising on quality or style. Earlier this month, Primark reported a 1% increase in UK sales with steady like-for-like growth, following a mixed performance attributed to external factors such as the Middle East conflict and unpredictable weather.
Associated British Foods (ABF), the parent company of Primark, disclosed plans to separate the retail business by the end of 2027, resulting in individual listings on the FTSE 100. Wittington Investments, owned by the Weston family, will retain majority stakes in both entities. The split is expected to incur around £75 million in separation costs and may lead to a loss of synergies post-transaction.
ABF’s CEO, Mr. Weston, emphasized that the division will offer strategic benefits for both the food and retail sectors, allowing each business to leverage its unique strengths and growth opportunities. The move is seen as a significant evolution for ABF, positioning Primark to capitalize on its brand recognition and market potential in new and existing territories.
