A 23-year-old woman in Japan tragically lost her life when a man fell from a 12-storey building and landed on her. The man survived the fall, but the woman, identified as Tomohiro Inaba, succumbed to haemorrhagic shock at the hospital hours later.
The incident occurred in Naka-ku, Nagoya City, where emergency services responded to a call about the incident around 1 am on July 19. The man, Nobushige Taguchi, 29, who also worked at a nearby shop, fell from a window onto the path where the victim was walking.
Tomohiro Inaba was walking beneath the window at the time of the tragic event. Taguchi survived the fall but sustained severe head and chest injuries, leaving him in a coma and fighting for his life in the hospital.
The location of the incident was near Yabamachi Station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Meijo Line, an area densely populated with high-rise buildings. A friend of the victim who was with her at the time alerted the authorities, while other individuals rushed to the scene upon hearing screams.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances leading to the man’s fall, exploring whether it was accidental or intentional. The area was cordoned off for investigation, with forensic officers collecting evidence, although the specific floor from which the man fell remains undisclosed.
Reports indicate that the man was not a resident of the apartment block, prompting further inquiry into his presence at the location. This incident follows a similar one in Milan last September, where a woman was killed by a man who jumped from a fourth-floor apartment, causing a tragic accident.
