The Met Office emphasized that while further heatwaves are within the realm of possibility, they are not definite. The overall outlook suggests above-average temperatures with a risk of hot weather and potential heatwaves later in August, influenced by factors such as high-pressure systems, air source patterns, and weather disturbances.
In the short term, unsettled conditions are expected at the end of July and the beginning of August. The forecast for the period from Sunday, July 26, to Tuesday, August 4, predicts variable weather with a mix of sunny intervals and occasional rain across many regions. Northwestern areas are likely to receive more rainfall than southeastern areas, with hints of high-pressure systems possibly bringing drier conditions, particularly in the south.
Winds are expected to be mostly light or moderate, occasionally stronger near coastal areas, especially in the north. Temperatures will hover around or above normal levels, with the south experiencing the warmest conditions and the potential for a return to very warm weather at the start of August.
