A young child tragically drowned at a well-known reservoir after reportedly playing on a raft, according to police officials.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) was alerted to the incident on Saturday, July 18, at approximately 3:30 pm local time. The call indicated that a three-year-old girl was missing and feared to have drowned in Fleming Meadows Lagoon at Don Pedro Reservoir.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement found bystanders administering CPR in an attempt to save the child, identified as Lailah Rosillo. Despite the swift response from multiple parties, including deputies, firefighters, and medics, the young girl could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the site.
In an effort to gather more details about the tragic event, the TCSO has called for public assistance. They specifically seek any photos or videos showing the child on a raft or boat with other children and ask for information from witnesses who saw the child before the accident occurred.
Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to aid Lailah’s family with funeral and memorial costs. The fundraiser, initiated by a close friend of the family, expressed the profound loss felt by Lailah’s parents, siblings, and extended family members.

The family friend emphasized the devastating impact of the tragedy on the family, highlighting the unexpected and heart-wrenching nature of the loss.
