“Spanish Holiday Destination Granada Shaken by 3.7 Magnitude Quake”

An earthquake shook Granada, a popular Spanish holiday destination, causing panic among locals who described the tremors as resembling an explosion. The seismic event, measuring 3.7 in magnitude, struck 3.73 miles (6km) south of Granada at 3.46pm local time. The epicenter was located in the town of Ogíjares at a depth of 6 kilometers.

Residents near the epicenter shared their experiences, with one person from Churriana de la Vega mentioning being thrown out of bed by the intensity of the quake. Another individual remarked that a quake of this magnitude had not been felt since January 2021. Additionally, a witness in the area described the event as feeling like an explosion, with floors and walls visibly shifting.

Following the initial quake, an aftershock with a magnitude of 1.7 and a depth of 6 kilometers was felt in Armilla, located 4km from Granada city center.
