FIFA, a non-profit organization, has generated $13 billion (£9.6bn) in revenue over the past four years. Guided by Gianni Infantino, the governing body of world football has actively pursued expansion and commercialization, emphasizing growth in the sport through larger tournaments, increased ticket prices, enhanced entertainment, and prominent attendees.
Infantino’s ambition to expand football development funding involves creating a $20 billion (£15bn) subsidiary and selling 20% of FIFA Forward Enterprise to investors to raise $4.2 billion (£3.16bn). The initiative involves various stakeholders, including Joshua Kushner, the brother of Jared Kushner (son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump), leading the investor group. Additionally, each of FIFA’s 211 member associations has been promised $40 million (£30m) if they support the plan by a specified deadline.
