A social media personality got caught in a swift river while trying to save her dog during a vacation. Cass Aragón narrowly avoided going over a 140-foot waterfall when her swimsuit got caught on a rock. The terrifying incident occurred shortly after she arrived at the scenic location to camp with friends.
Her dog, Chabelo, who she rescued as a stray, was swept away by the current when he went for a swim. Despite her efforts to rescue him, the force of the water also carried the influencer away. She described the experience as chaotic, feeling like she was being tossed around uncontrollably.
Fortunately, her swimsuit snagged on a rock just a few meters away from the edge of the waterfall, preventing a tragic outcome. The incident took place at the Pulhapanzak waterfalls in Peña Blanca, northern Honduras. Chabelo’s persistent barking alerted a zip-line guide who spotted Cass in distress and promptly raised the alarm.
Local individuals managed to clear a path through dense vegetation to rescue her. Cass, hailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, expressed gratitude towards the individuals who aided her during the ordeal, particularly noting a man in a Mexico national team shirt whom she considered her savior.
Following the incident, the travel influencer sustained injuries including three broken ribs, head trauma, and various cuts and bruises. She was promptly taken to a nearby clinic for urgent medical attention. Due to the severity of her injuries, she will need to return to Mexico for a complete recovery.
Despite the harrowing experience, Cass harbors no ill feelings and holds a positive view of Honduras and its people. She emphasized the kindness and assistance she received from locals and park staff. Encouraging her followers, she stressed the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and warning signs in natural settings.
