“Woman’s Body Found in Suitcase in Athens, Afghan Boxer Faces Homicide Charges”

Date:

A close friend of a woman from Scotland, whose body was discovered in a suitcase in the city of Athens, shared her concerns about the missing person prior to the tragic finding.

Sharif Ahmadzai, an Afghan boxer, faces charges of intentional homicide in connection with the death of Elisabeth-Jane Ross, aged 38, whose body was located inside a suitcase by a homeless individual in an abandoned structure in the Kypseli district of the Greek capital on July 18.

Arriving at the Court of First Instance in Athens today around 10:40 a.m. local time, the accused was transported in a grey Hyundai vehicle with tinted windows.

As per reports from Greece, Alaina Hall, the wife of Ahmadzai, notified the authorities about her escalating worries when she failed to receive any communication from her friend in July.

Hall and the victim had become acquainted in February of the current year through mutual volunteer work and religious gatherings, with their last meeting occurring on July 12. After texting Ross six days later without a response, Hall contacted Ahmadzai, who claimed their last interaction was on July 15 when Ross supposedly requested his company to deliver a Bible.

Expressing her growing unease, Hall recounted an incident on the night of July 15 when she discovered her husband missing at midnight. Tracking his location, she found him at an apartment on Rethymno Street, a situation that puzzled her as there was no apparent reason for him to be there at that hour, as per local media accounts.

Subsequently, in light of Ross’s disappearance and the subsequent discovery of a body, Hall began to piece together the sequence of events, expressing her fear that the recovered body might belong to her friend Lisa.

Hall attempted to reach out to Ross via text and phone calls, noting unusual responses that did not align with Ross’s typical communication style, including language proficiency and emoji usage. Her concerns deepened as she correlated dates, messages, and her husband’s conduct, leading to a sense of discomfort, as conveyed to authorities, reports Proto Thema.

Upon the identification of the body as that of her friend, Hall, overwhelmed with fear, relocated with her husband from their residence, receiving threatening messages, including photographs of herself and her child, suspected to be sent by Ahmadzai to divert suspicion from himself.

Initially detained on charges related to illegal possession of weapons, Ahmadzai now faces accusations of intentional homicide and alleged theft of over 10,000
