National Rail has issued a warning about significant disruptions in the Greater Manchester area, the Midlands, and the North West of England.
This disruption stems from an electrical malfunction at a communications hub, resulting in train cancellations, delays of up to one hour, and rescheduling of services.
Train services operated by Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express, and Transport for Wales are currently impacted by these issues.
According to National Rail, the disruption is anticipated to persist until the end of the day. Northern and TransPennine Express have advised their customers against traveling under these circumstances.
Northern passengers can utilize their tickets on alternative services without extra charges. Ticket restrictions have been lifted, encompassing Advance and Peak restrictions in the affected areas.
TransPennine Express customers are also allowed to use their tickets in both directions at no additional cost on specified services.
National Rail has identified several rail companies that are impacted by this disruption. Additionally, a notice on the National Rail website advises passengers to verify their entire journey before commencing travel as other train operators may also face disruptions.
