Israeli Airstrike in Gaza Kills Child and Man

Date:

An Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, a three-year-old child, and a man identified as Hussam Nusair, according to health officials. The strike, which occurred near a bakery in Deir al-Balah, also left several others wounded, as reported by Gaza medics.

The Israeli military stated that the airstrike targeted and killed a Hamas militant, alleging that Nusair was involved in attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas has not yet responded to these allegations.

Despite a U.S.-supported ceasefire established last October to reduce conflict in the area, Israeli military operations have continued to prevent attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants. Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire and obstructing the implementation of a broader peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.

Since the ceasefire was put into effect, over 1,300 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza, as reported by Gazan health officials. The Israeli military has confirmed the deaths of four Israeli soldiers during the same period.
